Cuixmala: an eco-friendly resort.
Details on this exotic Resort
It was the perfect weekend getaway. A gorgeous mansion to some billionaire who’s daughter turned their vacation home into an eco friendly resort. Its tucked away between Manzanillo & Puerto Vallarta on a massive secluded private property and reserve…how big you ask? 30,000 acres of Lagoons, beaches and land oh my!
This reserve is home to zebras and antelopes not to mention a pitstop for many exotic birds on their way down south. How did the zebras and antelope get there? Welp, according to a worker..many moons ago the owner of the London zoo gifted the owner and his family two male/female zebras and antelopes, now there are OVER 40 zebras and antelopes! How amazing is that?!
So, what was the first thing on our agenda…horse back riding to see them! They took us all around the property, giving the history of the place. Once we got to the zebras/ antelopes they let us get off our horses and walk among the animals. We got real close and even tried to pet one! Oh boy, do zebras come from a mystical place like Never Neverland.
An Organic Farm
Not only is this magical place filled with wild life and beautiful beaches but they also have an organic farm on their land in which you can bike around and tour the farm. the food is great and you can really taste the flavors in all their produce; thats the way vegetables should taste. The most simple dish was packed with so much flavor. Like Ina Garten says, “it’s all about the ingredients.”
My experience and a secret gift
Overall, I truly enjoyed myself here and can’t wait to come back! The staff was very friendly, anything we asked for they made sure to accommodate us and very insightful about the property and history. This is the perfect place for a short vacation with plenty to do or nothing to do at all. The property has a secluded beach only for guests, so if you go at the right time, you might, like us, have the whole property to yourselves.
We also found a hidden gem, Costa Careyes, a beautiful resort with colorful houses that looks similar to the Amalfi Coast from the water. I would highly recommend stopping there for lunch.
